These expeditions into the Amazon’s heart are tailored to fishermen whose
ultimate goal is to venture where the fish have never seen an angler, or even a lure before. We seek
out the most untrammeled and untraveled regions of the Amazon rainforest. If you yearn to be
the pioneering angler, casting your lines into untouched waters, then this is the trip for you.
Our quests may lead us to seek out giant peacock bass, fanged payara, massive wolfish,
acrobatic bicuda and a full range of the Amazon’s renowned giant catfish. More often than not,
we are left still wondering about what other unknown species may be lurking in these wild waters,
driving our passion for exploration. Group size on our exploratory trips is limited to 8 anglers.
A New Gem for Sport Fishing in the Amazon highlands.
Following confirmation of exclusive fishing rights in a Conservation reserve, Amazon Fishing
Wild’s operating staff recently returned from an exploratory journey to a river unknown
within the world of sport fishing. It was an eye-opening experience.
It took several days of hard travel, navigating through complex waters surrounded by vast
primeval rainforest to reach our new fishery. Our goal was to understand its potential and
its floodpulse rhythm and to discover if floatplane access was possible. Factors that would
determine whether this remote area could become a new highlight for Amazonian sport
fishing.
The answer was a resounding yes. We found a gorgeous, untouched environment, rich in
remarkable sportfish and biodiversity, a true paradise for passionate anglers; huge wolfish,
giant payara, fat red tail catfish, big pacu, acrobatic bicudas and an impressive number of
hefty “jarina” peacock bass, a species found only in this river; confirming the hopes we
always have when encountering a region where fish have never seen a lure; and, just as
important we found safe and rapid access by floatplane.
What makes this place even more special is its conservation status. Being located within a
protected area, with land and water access that remains naturally limited ensures that it will
provide an exciting and exclusive fishing experience.
This expedition marks the beginning of a new chapter for Amazon Fishing Wild, a project
that unites exploration, knowledge, and respect for the Amazon rainforest. Behind our
expedition was the experience of Wellington Melo, who has dedicated more than 27 years to
sport fishing in the Amazon, developing operations and fishing trips that have become
benchmarks throughout the region. His technical expertise and deep understanding of the
environment were key to accessing this new area with its preserved ecosystem.
And the best is yet to come. Amazon Fishing Wild will open four exclusive weeks of
exploratory operations between October and November of 2026, offering a limited number
of anglers the opportunity to experience this one-of-a-kind destination in one of the most
unexplored regions of the continent.
It will be a true Fly-in Camp expedition, with direct access to the fishing area by amphibious
airplane and accommodations in a comfortable camp setting. Most would call it “Glamping”.
The journey will begin in Manaus, where a representative from Amazon Fishing Wild will
personally welcome guests at the airport and accompany them to our partner hotel. On the
following morning, the group will travel by private van to the airport, where they will board
an amphibious flight of approximately 2 hours and 40 minutes to reach the fishery, The
return will follow the same route, with full assistance from the Amazon Fishing Wild team,
ensuring comfort, safety, and personalized attention throughout the journey.
From our previous expedition, we learned that there is still much more to uncover.
There was not nearly enough time to see the entire region we’ve been granted exclusivity to.
So, during our exploratory schedule, additional satellite camps will be established to expand
our access and to further diversify the fishing experience. Each group of anglers will discover
new stretches of the river and enjoy a variety of fishing environments. These upcoming
weeks are not just about fishing, but about joining with us in the next phase of exploration.

territory still has to offer. Check dates, availability, and further details
